Branding is becoming an increasingly important aspect of business communications. Basically, branding is the discipline of creating and promoting a strong identity for a company. Usually, that means a visual identity, including name and logos, but a brand can also include many other factors that all add up to the company’s identity, including design elements and packaging.

Branding is important because it compiles the elements that make a business memorable. These elements help consumers to distinguish a company from its competitors – and ultimately, make the company a superior choice. A brand includes how a business wishes to be perceived, and that can include a reputation for superior customer service and excellent social responsibility.

As graphics professionals at TAG Communications in Davenport, IA, Mitch Franck and Scott Scribner work to define and uphold the brands of many of TAG’s clients. Mitch works as a multimedia designer at TAG, and supervises Scott, who is a graphic designer and photographer.

In a full-service advertising agency like TAG Communications, no graphic design project is just a simple matter of adding copy to some clip art – far from it. When they work on projects for clients, Mitch and Scott need to determine not only the design of a logo, but also the colors, themes, and graphic elements that will all be part of the project’s complete look.

Quality and continuity are key factors in the success of a project for Mitch and Scott. Once a graphic standard for a client is established, future works must also meet those standards. Both designers are skilled at illustration, and Scott is integrating more and more of his photography into projects.

Mitch and Scott enjoy working together and find it fulfilling to be able to exercise their creativity on a daily basis. They also enjoy the challenges that come with creating projects for online use, since digital projects are without a doubt, the wave of the future.
