Since 1908, NASBA has served as a forum for the nation’s 55 State Boards of Accountancy, which administer the Uniform CPA Examination, license more than 650,000 Certified Public Accountants and regulate the practice of public accountancy in the United States. As an extension of NASBA’s core mission, the NASBA Center for the Public Trust (CPT) continues to provide a platform for corporate America, academia and the accounting profession to explore, promote and advance ethical behavior through business and leadership.

State boards of accountancy require the passing of an ethics examination or the completion of ethics courses prior to licensure. The CPT takes the next step in this process – the linking of the theoretical to practical. Business ethics should consist of more than testing on the code of ethics, but should enhance business practices.
